Faculty Governance Primer
Each year, tenured faculty in certain sabbatical cohorts will be required to enter the election-eligible pool for up to three consecutive years beginning the year after a sabbatical. If not elected to serve after the 3rdelection, tenured faculty will enter the ad-hoc pool for a term of 3 years.
Pre-tenure faculty in either their 2nd or 3rd year are required to enter the ad hoc pool for a one-year term.
Non-tenure track faculty (Full time, Renewable) have the option to enter the election eligible pool (for non-managerial governance committees) or the ad-hoc pool.
A current list of the faculty in each of the seven sabbatical cohorts (A-G) is available on the FEC webpage at /committees/fec/sabbatical-cohorts/secure/index.php.
In September of each academic year, FEC will request preference sheet submissions from faculty to stand for elections and appointments to governance committee work for the next academic year. The preference sheets ask you to rank the various committees according to the work you are interested to undertake.
